After notifying the community on October 22 that Level III Predatory Offender Christopher Nicholas Sonsalla was moving into Hastings, the Hastings Police Department issued a follow-up release regarding Sonsalla’s residency being terminated in Hastings. Sonsalla will not be residing in Hastings: where he is moving to is not known at this time.

UPDATE: Under Minnesota Statute 244.052 Subd. 4 (k) we are required to notify the community that Christopher Nicholas Sonsalla who was subject to broad public notification based on his residence in this community is no longer living, working, or frequently found within this jurisdiction. If he is living in another Minnesota community and notification has been made there you can find his location by searching at https://por.state.mn.us/OffenderSearch. aspx This in no way should be considered a notice of “all clear” in the community. Sexual offending can occur in any community and is more likely than not to involve a perpetrator who is not listed as a registrant or may not live in the immediate community. Additionally, someone who has previously registered in a community most likely has connections to that community so could be expected to return if only to visit or engage in business activity in the community. Nothing replaces awareness as the most critical public safety practice. Be aware of who is involved in the lives of those within your community or your direct family and social network. Speak up if behavior is concerning. Sexual offending is almost always based on family, social, or business interaction rather than simply geographic proximity or registration
