Everything in the age of COVID around high school sports is very last minute and often does not include a lot of details until the game is about to happen. Head Coach Marissa Welch gave us the few details she has. Hastings Tennis will have their top 12 girls play host to John Marshall on Tuesday, October 6th at 4:00 p.m. The Raiders are the eighth seed in the section and John Marshall is the ninth. Unfortunately, that falls after printing and before delivery of the paper. Physical distancing protocol remains the same from the season and the meet will operate just like every meet has this year. Fans are still encouraged to wear masks for the event and attendance is limited to 250 non-team personnel. The outcome of the match on Tuesday will determine when and where the Raiders play next. If it falls in another strange timeframe in paper distribution, we will share that on our Facebook page as well as here.

As the new sports guy in town, I would like to personally thank Marissa for her willingness to share information with me and for her giving me access to the team this season. Especially given the odd circumstances around sports this fall. Thank you for making my job easier and treating this rookie like a seasoned journalist.
