Accidents happen, but what is the chance of them happening in the same one mile stretch of road in the same week? Sadly, happened just south of Hastings.
This single vehicle accident occurred Friday afternoon. A semi owned by Peine Farms was heading southbound on 316 just before Otero Avenue when the load shifted causing the truck to flip onto its side. The accident occurred just past the S-curve section before the long hill. The semi was pulling a bin style trailer that was filled with a white granular substance that turned out to be fertilizer. The contents of the trailer spilled onto the road, shoulder, and ditch. Schlomka Services was called to assist with the clean-up. The road was closed for a few hours to traffic for investigation and clean-up.
The official report from Minnesota State Patrol was not available. The driver was reportedly ‘OK’ from witnesses on the scene.
