St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton (SEAS) held the 62nd annual Patriot Tournament to cap off Catholic Schools Week. The tournament features eight teams from area Catholic schools over the course of two days between Friday night and Saturday.

The tournament kicked off with St. Agnes defeating St. Peters 66-13. Next up, Community of Peace defeated St. Joseph’s of Rosemount 52-50 in overtime. SEAS played the prime-time game finishing off Friday night, beating Trinity Lone Oak 56-22.

Concordia Academy and North Heights finished the quarterfinals play first thing Saturday morning with Concordia Academy winning 49-47.

Rosemount and St. Peters started the second round of play with the consolation side first. Rosemount won 30-27 before North Heights defeated Trinity.

On the championship side, Concordia defeated SEAS 55-30. Next up, Community of Peace defeated St. Agnes 59-43.

In the fifth-place game, North Heights beat St. Joseph 50-27. Host SEAS won big over St. Agnes 55-30 for third place.

Community of Peace were crowned champions after playing Concordia with a final score of 64-47.

The all-tournament team: Justice Antleitner of North Heights, Thomas Plasch and Matt Fischer from St. Agnes, Tommy Peterson and Liam Bernatz from SEAS, Ryan Korinek and Lucas Sibley from Concordia, Kharriel Taylor, Akanni Newton and Pierre Glass from Community of Peace.

The crowd for all the games was incredible and they packed into the gym the best they could. The SEAS gym has not changed in 70+ years it seems and the fans were right on the edge of the court unless they managed to make it up on to the stage. Many of the current Raider varsity basketball players came to support the SEAS kids. Some of the varsity guys went to SEAS and were you in attendance, you may have recognized some of the varsity players younger brothers on the team.

The important piece of the tournament is the players and fans alike had a fun time around the sport they love and many will return for the 63rd annual Patriot Tournament in 2024.
