Three file for ballot Nov. 8

The Hastings School Board is seeking a new school board member as a short term fill in.
Minnesota statutes require the board to fill the seat va cated with the resignation of director Mike Reis in July.
At the same time, ISD 200 is preparing for a special election to fill the remainder of Reis’ term, which runs through Jan. 1, 2026. That election will be held with the fall general election on Nov. 8.
There are three candidates now who have officially filed to be on the ballot. They are:
•Todd Kullmann, 2421 Southview Court, Hastings
•Pamela J. Onnen, 18888 Portwood Way, Hastings
•Mark A. Zuzek, 2470 Timber View Dr., Hastings School district administra tive assistant Becky Garcia said Tuesday morning that those are the only three who have filed so far, but candi dates had until the end of the day Tuesday to file in the dis trict office, after deadline of the Hastings Journal.
She said that after the elec
tion, the vote must be can vassed and certified by the board. After that, there’s a pe riod of time when a recount could be ordered.
After that deadline, the “official” new school board member can be seated.
“We’re hoping for Decem ber,” she said.
Until that time, the board needs a fill in for the open spot. At a school board work session last Wednesday night, the board decided to seek
