Rotary Student of the Month September 2023 – Ashtyn Stewart

Ashtyn Stewart was selected as the 2023-24 school year Student of the Month for September. Stewart is involved in Spanish Honor Society, Athlete Leadership Council and the girls swim team where she is a team captain. She is a youth ambassador for the school where she greets and works with foreign exchange students when they arrive in Hastings, she is also a coach for the Writing Center at the High School.

Stewart plans to continue her education at a four-year college but she is undecided what college it will be. She plans to pursue a Political Science major with the goal of become a lawyer. Her dream school is the University of Michigan.

Her nominators had this to say about Ashtyn: Ashtyn has a great work ethic and goes above and beyond in class to engage in the learning taking place. She has challenged herself all the way through her high school experience, taking numerous AP and Honors classes; this year alone she has four AP courses and four additional College-In-the-School classes. Ashtyn also has great leadership potential, which we see her utilizing more and more each year- as a Spanish Honor Society Officer, a Youth Ambassador, Swim team captain, NHS member and other pursuits. As exceptional as Ashtyn is as a student, however, the true reason for this nomination is simply what a wonderful person she is. Ashtyn is respectful, engaging, and friendly. She is soft-spoken and has a gentle way of connecting with all students, greeting everyone with a smile, and going out of her way to help those around her. She leads by example, and it is obvious she values learning as well as building community. She is an excellent example of what we want our students to be.

Congratulations to Ashtyn Stewart for earning this year’s first Rotary Student of the Month!
