Ronald George Guck, age 85 of Hastings, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Ron was born on a farm in Bluffton, MN. He graduated from New York Mills, class of 1957. He proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Army. He married Deian Schwartz on September 10, 1960 in Bluffton. They presided in Wadena, Minnesota for 11 years.

He drove semi-trucks for Cenex for 26 years and Alliant Foods for 12 ½ years. In between, he drove milk trucks for Jim Beskau. After retirement, he worked 25 years at Bellwood Golf Course.

Ron’s hobbies included bowling, fishing in Alaska, deer, turkey and wild hog hunting in Texas and Minnesota.

He was a KC member for over 50 years, helping manage the hall and being a member of the board for 20 years. Ron also helped at the Hastings Family Service for 25 years. He belonged to the MN Blue Bird Society for 22 years and 6,803 birds fledged from 200 blue bird houses that he personally built.

Ron loved his neighbors for the last 53 years in Hastings.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Hugo and Helen (Breuer) Guck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Casper and Loretta Schwartz; daughter-in-law, Shelly Sherrill; brother, Duane Guck; brothers-in-law, Roger Mohs, Greg Lunzer, and Harry Harrison.

Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deian Guck; children, Cindy Stern, Brian Guck, Angela (Tim) Wick, Bruce Guck, Bradley Guck; grandchildren, Eriane (Collin) Peterson, Katie Stern, Jason (Andrew) Stern, Derek (Candi) Stern, Allison (Nick) Guck, Hillary (Monique) Bartsh, Lucas Wick, Courtney Wick, Brandon (Desiree) Otto, Ryan (Kathy) Otto, Nathan Guck, Brandan (Aleisha) Guck, Danica (Mikey) Swanson, James Sherrill, Drake Guck, Alexa Dearborn, Mitchell (Bryana) Guck; great-grandchildren, Harper, Reese, Levi, Trey, Charlie, Bodie, Riley, Mia, Braxton, Alexis, Karsyn, Parker, Braxton, Lincoln, Brecken, Kylie; siblings, Margaret (Pete) VanErp, Susan (Ed) Vonderharr; sisters-in-law, Jan Guck, Marge Harrison, Sister Jean Schwartz OSB, Barb Bessett, Audrey Davis, Mary Lunzer; brother-in-law, Gary (Jean) Schwartz; and by many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings.

Family and friends were cordially invited to a visitation from 10 a.m. to the time of the Mass at church.

Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
