Roger Allen Utpadel ,83, of Hastings, MN came to the end of his joyful, family first life on October 12, 2024. In May of 2024, Roger chose to seek treatment for a mass on his kidney and entered St. Croix Hospice Care. His remaining good days were with his family and friends near, and the compassionate care of St. Croix Hospice.
Roger was a man of faith. He is survived by his children, Brad (Mary) Utpadel of Faribault, MN; Jill Fox (significant other Peter Lindstrom) of Hastings; Six grandchildren, Daniel (Kristin) Utpadel, of Longview, TX, Brian Utpadel of Faribault, Lindsay (Matt) Albertson of Hastings, , Nathan Utpadel of Minneapolis, Lauren Fox of Apple Valley, and Maria (Josh) Esterholm of
Phillips, WI. Great grandchildren, Zoey Petersen, Tatum and Thomas Albertson, Madelyn, James, and Michael Esterholm, Miles Utpadel, and Beau Fox-LaVenture.
Roger was 50-year resident of Hastings and the last 12 as a resident of Hasting Senior Health & Living. The senior community added an extension to their good friends in Hastings. Roger was a talented singer and shared his gift of music with family, friends, and the community. He was the entertainment for happy hour once a month at Hasting Senior Health & Living. Leading his neighbors there in what became a sing-along! His love of golf and football would find him on the weekends consuming play by play rather than being able to participate in in his later years. He enjoyed the fellowship of the Men’s Breakfast monthly where sharing the Gospel was also on the menu!
Roger is also survived by his brother Curtis (Lynette) Utpadel of Hastings. Sister-In-Laws, Connie Reineke of Faribault, Kathy Boozell of Alexandria. Brother-In-Laws; David (Pauline) Thielbar of Madison, SD, Doug (Linda) Thielbar, Hilton Head, SC. and many nieces and nephews.
As a man of faith, Roger hopes to be reunited with his wife Sandy, parents Eldo and Cordelia Utpadel; Brothers Elroy (Eileen) Utpadel, Lavern (Sheree) Utpadel. Granddaughter Mikalya Fox. In-laws Ronald and Alma Thielbar. Brother-In-Laws; Les Thielbar, Will Boozell, and Ron Reineke.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Hastings Senior Health & Living, 930 West 16th Street Hastings, MN . Pastor Gordon Gathright will be officiating. Interment will be held at Ft. Snelling later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Hastings Senior Health & Living or St. Croix Hospice Care in memory of Roger and Sandy Utpadel.
