As 2020 begins to wind down, so does the road construction in town. The first week of November saw the final layers of asphalt paved, lines painted, and general cleanup completed. Here are some final release notes from the contractor.
What has happened during the past week? Final site cleanup and minor final construction activities have been ongoing. Preparations in advance of final paving have been completed. Work was scheduled for the week of November second. Weather dependent, final paving was scheduled to begin on Cannon St, 22nd St, 23rd St, 24th St & 25th St on Monday, November second and will be completed on 15th St E on Tuesday, November third.
Final Site Cleanup: As final paving and restoration is completed the contractor did general site cleanup and took care of miscellaneous construction items needed to complete the project. Hauling away debris, removing traffic control, hauling out equipment & materials, etc.
Pavement Marking: Centerlines, fog lines, turn lanes, crosswalks and stop bars were painted after the final layer of asphalt was completed.
Saw and Seal: Sawing and sealing of joints in the new asphalt surface occurred on 22nd St, Cannon St, and 15th St W. Crews cut joints to every manhole, gate valve and catch basin structure, and roughly every 40 feet along the streets. The newly sawed joints were then cleaned out and filled with a bituminous sealant.
THANK YOU! For your cooperation, patience, and understanding during the project
