For fans of music, show choir season is here, and Riverside Company is ready to go. Hastings made the trek to La Crosse, Wisconsin for the La Crosse Central Grand River Invitational 2022. The invitational featured six total show choirs in the High School division. The 2-day invite features middle school singers on Friday and High School singers all day Saturday.
On Saturday, all six groups were eligible for the finals determined by the raw daytime scores. There were also multiple award opportunities for categories of: Best Soloist, Best Vocals, Best Band, Best Opener, Best Ballad, Best Crew, Best Choreography, Best Costumes, Best Closer and People’s Choice.
Hastings Riverside Company nabbed Grand Champion along with Best Vocals, Best Band, Best Opener, Best Ballad and Best Soloist – Kayla Sternerson. Bloomington Kennedy was first runner up followed by Totino-Grace High School.
This competition is a long day for parents and students alike, especially when a snowstorm hits in the middle of the afternoon. The kids were home after midnight Saturday night into Sunday morning after performing all day. The good news is, the kids went down Friday night, so they would not have the long drive down and back in the same day.
