The River Blades Skating School figure skaters representing the Hastings Civic Arena earned gold and silver medals in recent competitions.
The River Blades skaters competed at the M Health Sports Center Oct. 27-28 and at the White Bear Lake Holiday Open Dec. 2-4.
Hastings River Blades figure skaters competed in the team category and also competed solos and duets. Those categories included freestyle, entertaining, spotlight routines, jump and spin, and the interpretive category where you create a routine on the spot after hearing the music three times.
“We are so proud of our local figure skaters that represent Hastings,” said River Blades owner and coach Amanda Truax.
The community is invited to stop in at the Hastings Civic Arena March 2 at 7 p.m. to watch River Blades figure skaters perform their spring production “TV Glide” on ice. The arena will be transformed into a theater on ice where skaters perform to classical and current television shows.
