To the Editor:
On behalf of the DFL Senior Caucus, I would like to extend our gratitude to Representative Tina Liebfling for hearing the Minnesota End-of-Life Options Act last week in the House Health, and Policy Committee meeting. More than 50 people came to the Capitol, some with terminal illnesses, to tell personal stories and plead for action. The bill has been part of the DFL Action Platform for more than a decade. DFL lawmakers have shown they are committed to respect for body autonomy. We hope they will extend that commitment to respect for body autonomy at the end of life too.
The DFL Senior Caucus aims to bring the voice of DFL seniors to policy debates and promote legislation that enhances the lives of seniors {and our children and grandchildren} allowing us some personal control in the face of death that will relieve fear and anxiety and give us the peace of mind that will enhance our lives in these final days.
Don Slaten,
Hastings
Minnesota statewide Senior Caucus Vice Chair
