The story last year for Raider Athletes was at a minimum sad, and for seniors, devastating. COVID was new and no one knew what it would take to stay safe. The NCAA cancelled their crown jewel, the March Madness Basketball tournament which meant the fear was as strong as ever. That cancellation was the proverbial ‘straw that broke the camel’s back’ for the Minnesota State High School League and spring sports for high schools were cancelled.
The cancellation of spring sports, well, quite frankly, stunk. It was understandable given the unknown, but it still did not make it hurt any less. Thankfully, spring sports are back. The fact that the student athletes get to have a season will hopefully make it even more special for them.
Spring sports for Hastings includes Baseball, Softball, Boys Tennis, Girls and Boys Track and Field, Girls and Boys Lacrosse, and Girls and Boys Golf. Nine different teams that are part of the Metro East Conference. All of the sports will conclude their regular season before by May 25th. That means the state tournaments will go well into June. For example, the baseball playoffs are scheduled to be done by June 19th.
As with our Fall and Winter coverage, we look forward to working with coaches, managers, and parents to provide coverage of the various sports that Hastings has to offer. If you are a parent wanting to write about a sport, feel free to contact [email protected]
Below are the schedules for each sport as of 4/11/21.
