Raiders’ quest to defend state 3AAA wrestling crown starts Friday

The Hastings boys wrestling team officials enters the second season Friday, with the MSHSL Team Section 3AAA Meet at Woodbury. Wrestling is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
Defending state champion Hastings is pitted against Eagan, East Ridge, Park, St. Paul Central, St. Thomas Academy, Two Rivers and Woodbury at the meet as it starts its defense of the title.

Getting wins for the raiders were Gavin Lambert with a 5-4 decision at 114, Trey Beissel with a 15-4 major decision at 127, Jack Bainbridge with a pin in 3:29 at 133, Mark Svoboda with a pin in 5:46 at 139, Fletcher Peterson with a 3-2 decision at 152, Creed Peterson with a fall in 43 seconds at 172 and Derrick Steinke with a fall in 1:59 at 215.
After the team section meet, Hastings will wrestle Saturday, Feb. 24 in the Section 3AAA Individual Meet at Two Rivers High School.
