Raiders hope to get back on winning track

The Hastings boys basketball team will try to get back on the winning track this week after dropping a pair of games last week.
The Raiders dropped to 5-4 in the Metro East Conference, 10-8 overall, after losses on the road against Tartan on Jan. 30 and St. Thomas Academy on Feb. 2.
Hastings hosted Mahtomedi on Feb. 6. The Raiders then pack their bags for two more games on the road, a conference tilt at Two Rivers and a non-conference game at Hudson. Hastings returns home Wednesday, Feb. 14 to host South St. Paul.
Against Tartan, the Raiders squandered a five-point halftime lead and lost 75-71. Hastings was plagued by 17 turnovers in the game.
The Raiders were paced by an impressive shooting performance by Owen Bernatz, who hit 5-11 from three-point range enroute to 27 points.
Matthew Foss finished with 15 points, while Kellen Nuytten scored eight, Lukas Foss six and Kyan Esterby four.
Esterby and Weston Schult had five assists each.
St. Thomas Academy avenged an 11-point Hastings win from earlier in the season with an 82-62 win on their home court.
Bernatz scored 24 points, and Matthew Foss and Lukas Foss had 11 points each. Esterby and Payton Dean pitched in with five points, Nuytten had four and Schult had two.
