The Hastings girls basketball team takes a three-game winning streak into this week, and the Raiders sit tied for second place in the Metro East Conference with Hill-Murray, just a game behind first-place Mahtomedi.
Hastings picked up road wins last week against Simley on Wednesday and at Two Rivers on Friday.
The Raiders decimated Simley, 62-26, holding the Spartans to just 12 first-half points.
As she closes in on her 1,000th point as a Hastings Raider, Keagan McVicker wreaked havoc on Simley on the defensive side of the ball, coming up with nine steals. As a team, Hastings had 20 total steals.
Nine players scored, with Emma Bakker hitting for 15. She was white hot from behind the arc, connecting on 4-5 from three point land. McVicker had 12 points, followed by Lindsey Wagner with 8, Piper Brockman and Haley Strain with 6 each, Violet Schult 5, Brooke Mace and Kate Ruder 4 and Jillian McTague 2.
Against Two Rivers, the Raiders posted a 23-15 halftime lead en route to a 47-36 win.
McVicker was unstoppable. She scored 24 points, had 10 steals and seven rebounds to spark Hastings.
Bakker added 7 points and 7 rebounds, while Strain and Rachael Notch each scored five. Brockman added four, and Ruder scored two.
Hastings has a busy week. They played at North St. Paul Tuesday and travel to Hill-Murray Thursday. Tip times are 7 p.m.
The Raiders then host Owatonna in a noon non-conference game Saturday and stay home Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip against Tartan.
