Dakota County Sheriff Joe Leko and the Dakota County Drug Task Force issued an overdose spike alert Tuesday, June 2.

The announcement states:

The Dakota County Drug Task Force is warning residents about an increase in fatal and non-fatal overdoses in the past week, with a recent spike in the past 24 hours.

This signals a possible increased presence of fentanyl in the drug supply. Even recreational drug users are at risk for overdose and death. Fentanyl could be in drug supplies of cocaine, crack cocaine, and methamphetamine.
