On top of everything, I got put in my place by Patti last week.

Patti is one of these people who claims the pandemic doesn’t exist. I’m not one who feels that COVID-19 should have sent us into the depths of shutdown as it has, but on the other hand, I also don’t want to get it. As I’ve said before, if making us wear masks keeps our businesses and schools open, I’m all for it.

I’m assuming Patti is lumping our humble little newspaper in with the likes of CNN or something of the sort. Perhaps because we report on COVID situations from time to time, she is taking offense. My stance is that we publish local news. I’m not digging up statistics from other places and trying to create fear. If public health announcements are made locally, we publish them.

Patti ordered me not to run her letter, which interestingly enough was on the stationary of a local clinic. I hope she didn’t need to get tested!

“This is not to put in the paper – just letting you know we are on to the news media lies.”

Well, Patti, it’s only fair then that if what you wrote is the other side, I’m going to print it. And without further ado, in its entirety, is Patti’s debut as a newspaper columnist!

“Lies, Lies, Lies Why does everyone lie about the Virus? It’s not as bad as the news media says. Ask around. Do you know anyone who has the virus? Most everyone says NO. My aunt died from a brain cancer tumor last week 67 miles from my hometown. They took her to the hospital for pain the last three hours of her life. The hospital said she died from the Virus. She did NOT. But I found out later, the hospitals make money from the government if someone dies in the hospital of the Virus – so everyone that dies in the hospital now is from the virus. Look in the Sunday paper, not one is listed as dying from the Virus. 148,000 people die each year from smoking. Every 33 minutes, someone is murdered in the US. 35 million have died from AIDS, then there’s strokes, auto crashes, heart attacks – no one gets excited about that, so what’s all the stink about the virus?

It’s an election year and the news media has to have their nose in it.

The public is sick of the news. That’s why so many people don’t even turn on their TV anymore.

Lies, Lies, Lies.”

And now Patti has officially had her peace!

Please, folks, send me more of your anonymous letters!
