Mark S. Morstad, 73, of Hastings, passed away on May 25, 2024. He was born on May 19, 1951, in St. Paul, MN, to Peter Morstad and Marlene (Dewitt) Jones.

Mark graduated from Prescott High School in 1969 and married his best friend, Sherry Boege, on Sept. 5, 1970. Mark was a loving and generous father, who took pride in providing for his family. His granddaughter Athena was the delight of his life.

Mark was a lifelong follower of Jesus, with whom he had a deeply personal relationship. With 42 years of sobriety, Mark was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was an avid reader, loved music, and he was known for his curiosity about life. Mark was an electrician by trade and a passionate Green Bay Packers fan. He was also known for his sense of humor and dry wit.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Morstad; daughters, Melodie Morstad and Bethany Berhow, granddaughter, Athena Morstad-Ruiz; siblings, Bonnie (Glen) Saponari, Charles (Barb) Jones Jr., David (Bill Scholl) Jones, and Katherine (Ken) Seaton; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Morstad and Marlene (Dewitt) Jones; stepfather, Charles Jones; stepmother, Clara Morstad; brothers, Gary and Peter Morstad; and grandparents, Alice Yutz, Ted Dewitt, Peder Morstad, and Viola Morstad.

The family is deeply thankful to Jenny Jannett for the gift of her kidney donation that granted 15 more years of life with Mark. Special thanks to the staff at United Hospital and Benedictine Regina nursing home for their compassionate care.

A service to honor and celebrate Mark’s life will be held at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 615 15th St W, Hastings, MN 55033, on June 7, 2024, at 11 a.m. A visitation will precede the service from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
