Marguerita grew up on the family farm working alongside her father and going to country school. Marguerita drove school bus for 44 years beginning at age 18 just a few months after marrying George in 1950. That summer, she went to the driver’s license office to take her chauffeur’s license test. The man told her, “no woman can pass this test.” She proceeded to ace the test. After retiring from driving school bus, she continued to serve ISD 200 as a crossing guard for another 17 years. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church (formerly St. Boniface) in Hastings. She served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, and was a regular at daily Mass and Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration until her health prevented her from participating.

Mass of Christian Burial was held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Michael Tix officiating and Deacon Jim Marschall assisting. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.

When her kids were young, they would ask her what she wanted for Mother’s Day or her birthday, she would always answer, “peace and quiet.” Now, finally, she has peace and quiet.
