World Music Day 2025 was scheduled for June 21, 2025, and this is Hastings ninth annual year hosting, so they were not going to let the threat of some heat change their minds. Little did the event organizers know they were going to make music as part of a near record setting, high heat day. The mercury peaked at 95 degrees, falling short of the June 2022 record of 100 degrees, but it was still scorching for musicians and fans alike.
Fans had plenty of opportunities to enjoy music around town with several acts along with food trucks from Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Levee Park. Additional activities took place with a musical story time at Pleasant Hill Library to kick things off 10-10:45 a.m., music at Hastings Senior Living from 2-2:45 p.m. and additional acts at Spiral Brewery all afternoon long.
Paige Marschall Bigler, Recreation Programming Specialist for the City of Hastings sent out a quick thank you on the City’s social media.
“THANK YOU to everyone who braved the heat of a true Minnesota summer and came out to support our amazing musicians on Saturday, June 21st! From Levee Park to Spiral Brewery, Pleasant Hill Library, and Hastings Senior Health and Living, each site was alive with music. We’re so proud of all the talented performers who shared their music, and so grateful to YOU for showing up and being a part of the worldwide celebration! A HUGE THANK YOU to our behind-the-scenes support: Chuck Spavin - our lead volunteer MC'ing the day, co-coordinating Music trivia, and providing sound support. John Hanson for volunteering to provide sound support to Musicians! Experience Shows for providing an endless supply of high-quality sound equipment. Cole Spavin for coordinating Music Trivia - Gift Card Giveaway, Disney style!”
