Look Back in Time Day Camps

The Dakota County Historical Society will host “A Look Back in Time Day Camps” at the LeDuc Historic Estate. The camps will be held on June 18, June 25, July 9 and July 23, 2021 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. The camps are designed for children ages 7 – 13. Registration for the camps is $15 per person, per day. For an additional $10 per day, a lunch can be included, or you children can bring their own.

The LeDuc Historic Estate is located at 1629 Vermillion Street in Hastings, Minn. Registration is limited, so contact the Sibley Site at 651-438-8480 to reserve a spot. The June 18th program will be “Native Americans in Minnesota” and children will learn about Native Americans in the area through a variety of activities. On June 25th, the program will be “The Civil War” and children’ will get to learn about the Civil War through a history kit that includes artifacts. The July 9th program will be “Alice’s Artist Affair” and children will lean about Alice LeDuc, daughter to William and Mary, and her art by participating in an art project. The final program on July 23rd will be “School 150 Years Ago” and will have children learn what it was like to attend a one-room school, play Victorian-era games and much more.

Founded in 1939, The Dakota County Historical Society, preserves, interprets and promotes the history of Dakota County, Minn. DCHS operates three historic sites — Lawshe Memorial Museum at 130 3rd Avenue North in South St. Paul, Minn.; the LeDuc Historic Estate at 1629 Vermillion Street in Hastings, Minn.; and the Sibley Historic Site at 1357 Sibley Memorial Highway in Mendota, Minn. — as well as a research library and research Web site.
