Roz Allyson, CPA, MA and Managing Partner at Mahoney, has announced her planned retirement effective April 30, 2025 after a 35 year career in public accounting.
“To further the growth we have experienced at Mahoney and to fulfill our vision for the future, we will be splitting the Managing Partner role into two roles, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and a Chief Operating Officer (COO),” says Allyson.
The CEO will lead the strategic planning for the firm and have overall responsibility for achieving Mahoney’s goals and growth plans. The COO will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operations of the day-to-day activities of the firm, including finance, office and facilities maintenance, marketing, information technology and human resources.
“We feel that creating these two new roles will help us be more efficient and nimble as we react to client, market and team demands,” Allyson continues.
To this end, as of January 1, 2024, Tom Johnson, CPA, of Cottage Grove, will assume the role of CEO and Kari Erickson, CPA, of Hastings, will assume the role of COO. This year will be a transition year for both to ensure client continuity and a smooth transition of responsibilities.
“I am honored to be named the CEO at Mahoney. My goal is to work with our talented leadership team to seize the opportunities we have in front of us to empower our people, provide exceptional service and value to our clients, and to give back to our community. Together, our future is bright and I am excited about the possibilities it holds,” said Johnson.
