The local Musicians’ Fundraiser for elementary schools’ music programs is back after a year hiatus because of the pandemic. Organizers of the event have worked hard to bring local musicians to the community in a way to raise funds and shine a light on the work our schools do with building a love of music. This work has gone on for seven years and now they make their triumphant return to the Onion Grille located at 100 Sibley St. in Hastings.

Wendy Dodge, owner of the Onion Grille, has graciously donated the upstairs venue space each year for the musicians to host their every other week fundraiser on Sundays. Local musicians play a 20–30-minute set in an open mic style format to all to enjoy. The audience members are encouraged to make a free will donation during the event. All the money raised is donated to local elementary schools’ music programs.

As an example, one year, guitars were purchased, and the participating musicians offered free guitar lessons to the students. There are three events left; Mar. 6, 20, & 27 and they run from noon to 4 p.m. Any musician wanting to perform is welcome to, the only requirement is to sign up for a time slot just before noon.
