To the editor:
I was thoroughly disgusted with the article in last week's Hastings Journal regarding the sunsetting of ISD200's Policy 100.
Graham Johnson continues to show he is not qualified to be a legitimate reporter. His articles, especially those regarding school board news, clearly show his leftist views. The headline for the article "ISD 200 sunsets DEI policy despite staff opposition" makes it seem the three board members who voted (successfully) to sunset the policy were doing it against the choice of everyone else.
Not true! There were many teachers and other ISD 200 staff members who did not sign the 'teachers letter' that Ms. Hedin read. In fact only about 17-20% of the school staff signed that letter.
And the majority of district voters, by voting in the more conservative board members over the last two regular elections, showed that they want more common sense education and less political rhetoric in the classrooms.
Please get a reporter that is unbiased in what he/she writes. Political views are supposed to be only on the editorial page, not in general news articles.
Sincerely,
Teddi Tri
