September 13th, 2022, John Kinney (Stoney), 50, of Hastings, MN, died in his home after battling cancer. He left this world being held by friends and family.
John will forever be remembered as lively, vibrant, kind, and compassionate. He was rooted in servitude to others, and you always knew he had your back. John loved music, specifically playing the drums. John was an active member of his church worship band. He was a mechanic by trade and a fixer of all things, from your car to your daily woes. He gave the best hugs, filled with warmth.
Preceded in death by his father, Edward T. Kinney. John is survived by his wife Cheryl Kinney; children Randy (Nicole) Lunsford, Brittany (Graham) Hennessy, Casey Lunsford, Anjelica Kinney (Matthew Haas), and Johnathon Kinney (Alysha Holmes); grandchildren Paige Lunsford, Eldon Lunsford, Oliver Lunsford, Aegon Haas, Johnathon Kinney; mother Karin (Bernd) Hillmann; siblings Uwe (Sharon) Heeder, Maria (Mike) Taylor, Patrick (Janet) Kinney, Mike (Patricia) Kinney; countless friends and his colleagues at Heppner’s Auto Body. The Kinney Family will host a celebration of life for John on Oct. 15, 1- 3 p.m. at Scharr’s Bluff. Those who knew John are welcome to join and share memories. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
