Jerome H. Kleis, age 89 of Hastings, passed away on Monday, December 28th, 2020, from complications due to Covid 19.
Jerome was the first of nine children born to Henry and Florence (Fasbender) Kleis. After graduating from Hastings Senior High, he attended Winona State for two years. He also served in the Minnesota National Guard and retired from Koch Minnesota Pipeline Company after 35 years. Jerry was also involved in the local Legion, serving as the commander for two terms. During that time, he promoted the Veterans Memorial Wall overlooking the Mississippi river and sold commemorative plaques to support the construction. Jerry was an avid golfer and participated in the local golf league and the local bowling league.
Jerry and Florence(Beissel) were married on November 12th, 1955, and had recently celebrated their 65th anniversary.
Jerome is survived by his wife Florence, and his children, Valerie, Michael, Laurie, Carol, Kathy, Steve, 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. His siblings are Doris, Roger, Mary, Kathy, Char, Henry, Gretchen, and David.
His family will hold a private memorial.
