Hurricanes Surge to 11-1

The 2025 Season is now into the second half for the Hastings Hurricanes 35-plus Baseball Team, and there haven’t been many days through the schedule in which the Canes haven't held the top slot in the Federal League South Division. There was that one hiccup in Lakeville, early in the year, but otherwise, the Hurricanes were nearly perfect.
Striving for perfection nearly took on a whole new meaning this past Sunday at Vets Park in Hastings, as the Hurricanes stormed through a doubleheader with Veseli, winning both games in five innings via the ten-run rule, with one-hit shutouts in each victory, 10-0 in game one, and 13-0 in game two.
In game one, Canes Rookie Righty David Fransen, who has been known more for his bat in 2025, delivered a giant performance on the hill, throwing the first shutout of the day, yielding an infield hit, and nothing more, while walking one and striking out three.
"Franny was dialed in on Sunday. Whether it was on the mound, or at the plate, he gave us this calm feeling that we could jump on his back and find a way to win,” said Hurricanes Manager Nick Tuckner after the doubleheader. “He's been like that all season, and for a rookie, it's been so impressive."
The bats did the rest, as Jordy Horsch went 2-2, with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored, and fellow Hastings High School Alum Alex Harrington added two hits in the 10-0 game one barrage.

Game Two was very similar to the first game, except for a few extra fourth of July fireworks to close the weekend, winning 13-0, behind the arms of Tony Kaiser with the win and Nick Horsch earning the three inning save, and two four-hit days at the plate. Kaiser and Horsch gave up only one hit for the second consecutive game, leaving the bats to pick them both up big.
Fransen, who pitched the game one shutout over Veseli, took the bat out in game two, going 4-4, with a double and three RBI's. Jordy Horsch closed an unbelievable Sunday at the ballpark, also going 4-4 in the win and 6-6 over both games. He never got out in eight plate appearances, adding two walks on the career day.
Tuckner beamed about the game two effort noting "Jordy had a day at the Park that not many of us could even dream about. Eight plate appearances, six hits, two walks? I can't even do that on MLB The Show for PlayStation. Then you throw that human cheat code in Fransen out there, it makes a manager look pretty smart, so I appreciate it especially."

The Hurricanes will travel to Northfield on Thursday, which will be a home game for the Hurricanes, as they close the season series with Northfield at 7:30pm. Sunday, the Canes will be back home for a huge Federal League South battle with Elko at 5:30pm, at Vets Park, with possible playoff seeding on the line.
