The Hastings community came together to raise a total of $54,770 in July to help area families served by Hastings Family Service. This amount will receive a proportionate match from Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless.
“Hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation” says Amy Sutton, Resource Development Director. “Every single dollar makes a difference for kids and families who don’t have enough to eat.” HFS can purchase food from Second Harvest Heartland at 14 cents/lb, so every $10 can buy 70 pounds of food and a gift of $30 can feed a family of three for a week.
Gifts in July during the Open Your Heart challenge help HFS keep the food shelf stocked with great variety of foods that bring struggling families nutrition and relief. HFS thanks all who participated with a July gift and is grateful to Open Your Heart for the Hungry and Homeless for making that generosity have an even greater impact!
