The Hastings Fire Department needs the community’s help to keep the wreath white!
The fire department has again placed a large wreath on the Hastings Fire Station with all white lights. The wreath is up until Jan. 1.
For every preventable structure fire with the Hastings Fire Department response area, a white bulb is replaced by a red bulb. The goal is that the wreath lights remain white at the end of the holiday season.
The Hastings City Council approved a resolution thanking Pat Moen Lawn Care Inc. for donation of the wreath at its meeting Monday night.
John Townsend, Fire and EMS Director, said, “The Keep the Wreath White Fire Prevention Campaign is a public outreach program to remind our citizens of the importance of fire prevention during the busy holiday season.
“Our goal is to have a ‘white holiday season.’” The wreath is valued at $100.
The council passed a resolution stating, “The City Council is appreciative of the donation and commends Mr. Pat Moen of Pat Moen Lawn Care Inc. for his civic efforts.”
The wreath on the Hastings Fire Station on Hwy. 61 will stay up until Jan. 1, and the goal is to have all the lights stay white.
