Haus one of three filing for City Council At-Large seat

Hastings resident Angie Irene Haus announced this week that she submitted her candidacy for one of the two atlarge city council seats. Haus, 24, is a dental assistant at Smile Orthodontics in St.Paul and holds board positions with IDEA and Thrive in Hastings. A graduate of Hastings High School and Century College, Haus points to her lifelong commitment to Hastings as a key driver for her campaign.

“We have a great city and council,” Haus says. “But we can always do better. There are neighborhoods and groups within our city that still struggle. The best work in government is done locally. I have friends and family in Hastings who want to see this community build off our history and take it to the next level.”

To do this, Haus will focus her campaign on three issues: extending economic development citywide, deepening the city’s journey toward greater inclusivity, and bolstering tourism through enhanced initiatives within the city’s parks and recreation system.

“We have much of what we need an abundance of excellent staff and some outstanding programs,” Haus adds. “I want to be a voice on the council for establishing strong, high standards for government performance. How well are city programs doing; whom are they helping; are we making a difference for as many residents as we possibly can; what else can we do to make sure our community thrives?”

Haus intends to knock doors assertively citywide, “But you don’t have to wait for me to come to your door if you have a question! Reach out anytime. I’m always willing to listen to sincere ideas to bring greater success to our community.” Haus has an Angie Haus for Hastings City Council page on Facebook, and her email is [email protected]
