During the 102nd Annual Convention of the Department of Minnesota V.F.W. held in Brooklyn Park on June 10 – 13th 2021 it was announced that Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 achieved All-State Honors. A feat that the Post has not achieved since 1978.
In order to achieve All-State designation, the Post had to reach 100% in membership by April 1, 2021, and participate in the following VFW Core Programs: Voice of Democracy, Patriot Pen, Citizenship Education, Teacher of the Year, Buddy Poppy Program, National Veterans Military Support Service, and attendance at all district meetings.
The Post’s Commander, Kevin Kehn and Quartermaster, Jim Murtaugh also received All-State recognition.
During the convention Post 1210 was additionally recognized for the following achievements: First Place in Publications for Best Article “VFW-We’re Still Here!” written and published by Hastings Journal, Second Place in Publications for its Monthly Post Update, 100% Complete and On-Time Achievement for its Community Service Reporting and Third Place for its Post Poppy Display “The Argonne Cross”.
Minnesota’s VFW 2d District Commander, Ed Keogh attended the Post’s July 13th Monthly Membership Meeting to personally present the awards to its membership.
Keogh noted that the 2nd District is very proud of Hasting’s Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 for receiving the All-State Commander’s and Quartermaster awards along with the awards for Publications and Community Service. This shows that the Post and its Auxiliary are continuing to support our Veterans, Active Military and their families, your local schools and your community. It takes all members of a Post and Auxiliary to receive these awards.
Lyle Russell VFW Post 1210 is a 501c (19) organization located at 275 West 33rd Street, Suite M, between Highway 61 and 316 in the Crossroads Strip Mall. Regular hours of operation are 11 AM – 2 PM Wednesday and Saturday. New members are welcomed.
