Brian Slattum captures the phenomenon known as Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, from Downtown Hastings Thursday. The image was edited to bring out the lights in the sky which is why the shoreline looks so bright for a night pic. Slattum started a Facebook group for fans of Northern Lights called “Upper Midwest Aurora Chasers.” The group has more than 17,600 members who report on when people can expect to see any Northern Lights.
