DEA is a local nonprofit with a grassroots devotion to our BIPoC and LGBTQ+ community through education & civic engagement. The group’s goal is to improve inclusivity, diversity, and equity. IDEA is committed to our BIPoC & LGBQT+ community members and hopes to one day open a youth center with a focus on BIPoC and LGBTQ+. The center will offer education, activities, tutoring, a safe haven, mentoring and fun games. The center will be self-sustained with a skate park next to it.
The fourth annual Pride Festival is happening in Hastings again this year! IDEA will be hosting its 4th annual Pride Fest in Hastings on June 8 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event will begin with a parade/march starting at Kennedy Elementary parking lot and moving down 10th Street towards Levee Park. All are welcome to march. Following the parade there will be a festival at Levee Park located at 20 Ramsey St. The festival will offer family friendly games, face painting, henna tattoos, caricatures several food trucks, events, music and more. This event is free to attend and welcome to all supporters.
Entertainment will be hosted by Honesty Jackson and DJ Sheik.
