A 29-year old Hastings man was jailed after trying to elude Prescott Police Friday morning.

Jordan William Salmela, 29, was booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of Operating a Vehicle without Consent, Hit and Run, Possession of THC and Resisting an Officer.

He’s expected to be formally charged this week by the Pierce County District Attorney’s Office.

Prescott Police were notified Friday morning that a stolen vehicle from Dakota County could be heading into Prescott.

Police spotted the vehicle, and it accelerated to flee the officer, crashing into a tree. Salmela allegedly tried to run away, and he was caught and arrested by Prescott Police.

A statement from Prescott Police Department Sergeant Jensen states, “On February 26 at approximately 8:25 a.m., Prescott Police were notified of a stolen vehicle out of Dakota County possibly heading towards Prescott. The vehicle was being driven by an individual who was possibly armed and wanted for a felony See Salmela Page 3
