A Hastings man is facing a misdemeanor domestic assault charge following an Aug. 26 arrest by Hastings police.
Michael David Cavalier, 42, of Hastings, was charged in Dakota County District Court with misdemeanor domestic assault, intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm on another. Court records list the alleged offense as occurring Aug. 26 in Hastings.
Cavalier was arrested at approximately 1:40 a.m. and booked into the Dakota County Jail at 2:31 a.m., according to jail booking information.
He appeared in court Aug. 28 before Judge Kelly Staples and entered a not guilty plea.
The court issued a pretrial Domestic Abuse No Contact Order and ordered Cavalier to have no contact with the alleged victim and not enter the victim's residence. Other conditions prohibit him from using or possessing alcohol or controlled substances and from possessing firearms or dangerous weapons.
The court set bail at $20,000 without conditions, $10,000 with conditions or $1,000 cash with conditions.
Cavalier's next court appearance is a pretrial hearing scheduled for Sept. 15 in Dakota County District Court.
