Hastings Hockey Boosters hold Girls Hockey Day Hastings

Girls hockey has been one of the fastest growing sports in the nation and Hastings has been part of that success since the mid-nineties. That success is largely due to the hockey community as a whole, especially the volunteers. With that success, Hastings held their Girls Hockey Day to kick off the winter sports season and the start of the Girls Varsity hockey season.

The day had a variety of girls games playing all day, including the 6-1 victory for the Varsity team at the 3:00 game. The 10u, 12u and 15u teams played and the U6/U8 learn to skate groups had their first practice.

There were also a variety of events held. Fans could create their own sign to display during the varsity game, kids were encouraged to stay at the rink in their jersey for free admission to the Varsity game. The Varsity players hung out in the locker room during the day for an autograph session for the younger kids, and Mayor Mary Fasbender welcomed all the Hockey fans at the varsity game by doing a Mayoral Proclamation declaring November 11, 2023 Hastings Girls Hockey Day.

Aside from the varsity game, the biggest piece of the day was the all-girls hockey photograph. Girls from the learn to skate program all the way up to varsity gathered on the ice for a large group photo.
