The Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce honored community leaders at its Annual Awards Dinner Thursday night.
The theme of the banquet was “One Wild Night.” It was held at the impressive Wexford at Emerald Greens.
Longtime Hastings business owner Dan Rother, who passed away last year, was honored at the start of the meeting and business owners who retired were recognized for their commitment to the community.
Chamber Board Chair Michelle Tjomsland of InMotion Realty talked about successes of the last year and the busy year ahead.
“It has been a very busy year for the chamber,” she said.
She thanked outgoing board chair Tony Ciro of American Family Insurance for guiding the chamber through the last year.
In addition to the main chamber awards, Hastings Community TV was honored with the Hearts of Hastings Award for being the most impactful non-profit in the community and Culver’s of Hastings was honored with the Community Connector Award for everything it does to help community groups.
Of HCTV, Hastings Chamber President Kristy Barse credited the organization with chronicling events.
“They are everywhere in the city,” she said.
Educator of the year was Pinecrest Elementary kindergarten teacher Latherin Matzek. Volunteer of the Year was Debbie Grimm and Business of the Year was Dugarel’s Bar & Grill, owned by Jessie Ritter.
