The City of Hastings does not regulate trick-or-treating. If residents do elect to celebrate Halloween, we do encourage you to stay safe and to follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Minnesota Department of Health to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Specifically, the CDC advises against: Door-to-door trick or treating Costume parties “Trunk or treat” events, where children go from car to car to get treats.

Wearing a Halloween mask over a cloth mask, due to possible breathing difficulties. Halloween masks are not a substitute for protective cloth face masks.

Lower-risk activities such as socially distanced pumpkin carving, decorating your home, having a virtual costume contest, or doing an outdoor scavenger hunt are preferred.

The City of Hastings has cancelled its annual Halloween Party at the high school and will instead hold a virtual costume contest. Watch the City’s social media for details as Halloween approaches.
