Last week, Tony Jurgens (R-Cottage Grove), the current State House Representative announced that he will be running for the new Minnesota Senate seat for the newly formed Senate District 41. That announcement opened the door for a new House Representative for the newly formed district 41B.

On Feb. 25, Grayson McNew announced his candidacy for House District 41B. Here is the full statement.

Hastings – Today I announce my candidacy to the newly formed House District 41B. I am a lifelong conservative, small business owner, and American Patriot.

Growing up I was infatuated with history. Learning about empires past and present. Their mistakes, and their successes. What I learned was that in 1776 our founding fathers chose a bold course of action; Choosing liberty over tyranny. They sacrificed their comfort and put themselves into uncharted waters not for selfish gain but because of an innate understanding that tyrants will never choose freedom.

Over the past two years we have seen politicians and bureaucrats use the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to throttle executive abuse of powers. Today they do not show any interest in backing down. Power corrupts absolutely, our founding fathers knew that 250 years ago.

I have spent my life fighting for conservative values. I have worked tirelessly on the campaign trail and in the legislature, as a legislative aide, fighting to stop government overreach. Governor Walz has wreaked havoc across the state with his lockdown policies. He shuttered small businesses and restaurants based on political science rather than fact.

Yet even as we move out of this pandemic, the DFL continues to push unconstitutional vaccine mandates forcing families to choose between paying rent or feeding their kids. Not to mention the damage done to our kids physical and emotional well-being from 2 years of isolation, distance learning, and masks.

This has to Stop.

I can no longer sit by and watch. This is not the time to compromise on our beliefs, it’s the time to stand up and be heard. My name is Grayson McNew and I am running to be your next State Representative for District 41B. I hope I can count on your support.
