To the editor,
As a former Hastings resident and current property owner, it saddened me to read of the Hastings City
Council passing a resolution calling for a cease fire in the Israel-Hamas War, especially so when I read
of no one arguing against the merits of the resolution. I attended graduate school with several Arabs
and learned to appreciate their culture, but not their hostilities toward Israel, Jews, non-Arabs and nonbelievers.
Nonetheless, I've not lived in the area and don't presume to have sufficient knowledge or
background to offer advice. I doubt that any of the speakers or council members have better
background than I, especially in view of the bias present in available news sources. Council members,
please do what is necessary to govern Hastings and be silent on matters of which you have insufficient
knowledge and perspective.
