HFS was excited to add a fun summer event that could be held safely outdoors since the organization has not been able to host Hastings Tastings for the past two years due to the pandemic. Drive Out Hunger was made possible by three tournament sponsors: Farmers Insurance – Jim Allen Agency, Merchants Bank, and Smead Manufacturing; with Farmers Insurance – Katy Lindberg agency hosting dinner and Edward Jones – Abra Hovgaard as the Cart sponsor. Additionally, 14 hole sponsors provided fun and freebies throughout the course including Schommer Insurance who raised an additional $500 for HFS with a St Paul Saints ticket giveaway.

Winning team was the Culver’s team of Josh Malaske, Jeff Carter, Pete Dwyer and Ben Gathje Putting contest winner: Mick Humbert Ladies longest drive: Sara Linde Mens longest drive: Anthony Davis Closest to the Pin: Chuck Isenmann Longest Putt: Clair Severson Hastings Ford and Hasting Chrysler sponsored the Hole in One contest, but no cars were won this year!

Hot dogs for lunch were provided by Coborns and Duff’s Meats 2 along with samplings from Spiral Brewery before the golfing began. Graphic Design donated signs, and Plastic Printers provided signs, scorecards, and fun bag tags for all of the golfers. “Event volunteers, the staff of the Hastings Golf course, and the planning committee were instrumental in the success of the day along with great business sponsors and golfers,” said Carter. “We are grateful to be in an amazing community that jumped right in to help us make Drive Out Hunger a success! We learned a lot and look forward to making it even better next year!”
