The total of the 2025 Gobble Gait is in and the race raised a record-breaking $150,000 for Hastings Family Service.
In the weeks following the race, a high total was expected due to a record number of race sponsors and high attendance, but it took until last week for a final number to be calculated.
This record donation is matched by another less-optimistic record as 2025 saw the highest level of need for Hastings Family Service in its 55-year lifespan. In the last three years alone, the need for food assistance has increased by 180%, with few signs of slowing.
“We know in 2026 already that the need is going to continue to escalate,” said Amy Sutten, executive director at Hastings Family Service.
The new year often sees a dip in charitable donations after the holiday season even as the level of need remains high.
This month, Hastings Family Service has been Treasure Island Resort and Casino’s Impact Charity of the Month, matching guest donations throughout January.
“Having this launch in January really helps us be able to keep our services sustained at the level that we’re currently at and grow from there,” said Sutton.
