Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center Price: Free Get outdoors this winter to refresh your soul by joining Carpenter Nature Center’s Frosty 40 winter challenge. Research shows that even moderate exercise outdoors can improve your physical, mental and emotional health. Since CNC is turning 40 years old in 2021 we challenge you to walk, run, cross-country ski or snowshoe 40 miles in 40 days between January 1 and March 20, the first day of spring. Choose your own 40-day schedule, starting anytime between January 1 and February 8 to finish by March 20. Registration opens December 5th and Closes February 8th.

Cost: FREE Saturday, January 9, 9:00 a.m. to Noon Join us for Ice Fishing at Lake Rebecca The event is free of charge, but registration is required, Contact Hastings Parks and Rec at 651-480-6182 or [email protected] hastingsmn.gov to register for a timeslot.

What to expect: Bait, tackle and poles provided, Predrilled and marked holes ready for you to fish, Staff and volunteers on-site to help with instruction. All attendees can fish without a Fishing License during this event, catch and release only under our DNR waiver. Common Fish caught: Bluegill, Crappie, Northern Pike, Bass, and Chan- nel Catfish.

What to bring: Warm apparel & a portable chair or bucket for sitting.

This program is a partnership with Carpenter Nature Center, National Park Service and the Dept. of Natural Resources.

Executive Order 20-103 & the current MN DNR Outdoor Recreation Guidelines will be followed during this program.

Memory Café – Hastings Coffee Club Hastings Senior Center – 310 River Street Join us for this monthly Memory Cafe gathering right here in Hastings at Tilden Community and Senior Center, room 108. This is an initiative of DARTS Aging and Caregiving Resources and is a safe place to enjoy conversation for those going through memory changes and their friends. The focus is social support and conversation. There are volunteers, resource staff and free coffee available, too. Memory Cafe happens the second Tuesday of every month from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
