If you have an event you would like included in the Community Calendar section, please email [email protected] hastingsjournal.news. Events need to be submitted Friday before the first paper it would be in. We do our best to include at least two weeks of events.

Wednesday June 16 7:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Veterans Park Athletic Complex Online play by play at www.hastingshawks.com Join the Hastings Hawks as they host the Baseball 365 for an exhibition matchup under the lights! Come hungry and support the concessions stand that buys meat from Duff’s Meats 2 here in Hastings! The guys from 365 are a fun bunch to watch play. By now, you should already know the Hawks are pretty cool. CAW!

Thursday June 17 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Hastings Rotary Pavilion – Hastings River Front Music in the Park – Funktion Junction (70’s) A music event brought to you for free by the Ruth and George Doffing Charitable Fund. Music in the park is an all-ages show.

Friday June 18 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Historic LeDuc Estate – Native Americans in Minnesota Day Camp $15 per registrant. Details at https://www.dakotahistory. look-back-in-time-day-camp-2 Bring your child to the LeDuc Historic Estate this summer for our day camps. This day camp is designed for kids between the ages of 7-13 and will feature a different theme each week. The day will begin at 10 am with check-in and a brief presentation about the history of the topic and its connection to the LeDuc Site. Lunch is available for $10 or pack a bag lunch.

Before the “discovery” of America by the Europeans, and the settlement of the colonies, Native American’s lived off of the land on this great continent. Come to the LeDuc for a lesson on Native American’s in the area, a tipi set up on the grounds, and activities, led by Spencer Johnson.

Friday June 18 Noon to Sunday June 20 4:00 p.m.

Veterans Park Baseball Field HYAA 15AAA state qualifying tournament. HYAA hosts 8 teams for pool play Friday and Saturday and bracket play on Saturday and Sunday. Games start at noon on Friday and 8:00 am Saturday, and start roughly every two hours with the last game starting at 8:00 p.m. each day. Sunday is the championship day with games all day into the afternoon.

Sunday June 20 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Historic Hastings Car Show RETURNS to downtown Hastings!

Hastings is excited to bring back CAR SHOWS in 2021! Join us on 2nd Street in downtown Hastings the 3rd Sunday of every month May through September from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.. This historic main street boarding the Mississippi River fills with classic cars, piped in music and great food. If you have questions on showing your car at this event, contact the Hastings Chamber of Commerce at 651.437.6775 or Hastings Downtown Business Association at 651.437.8982. Cost to attend and show a car is free.

The show is limited to classic cars & trucks 25 years or older. (No motorcycles at this time) Monday June 21 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Accompanied by live percussion, the performance inspires audiences with the beauty and excitement of Haitian vibrant cultural heritage, including dance, music, storytelling and song. Various Parks in Hastings – visit www.hastingsmn.org for a detailed schedule Make Music Day – 10 bands perform half hour to 45 minute sets all over Hastings throughout the day.

Friday June 25 8:00 a.m. – Noon Bird banding Carpenter St. Croix Nature Center Have you ever wondered what bird banding is all about? Bird Banding records can help us learn how long birds live, where they travel, when and where they migrate and many other interesting facts. Carpenter Nature Center has been banding birds for over 30 years. On the fourth Friday of the month bird banding is open to the public. There is no program fee, but donations of Bird Seed and Suet are greatly appreciated. RSVP appreciated.

Hastings Rotary Pavilion – Hastings River Front Watch ‘Planes: Fire & Rescue’ on our 16-foot movie screen in Levee Park. 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. – Fire Trucks on Display, activities & give-a-ways with the Hastings Fire Department Relief Association. 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. – Planes: Fire & Rescue. “Movies in the Park” is free to the public and sponsored by Ardent Mills. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for Hastings Family Service. A bin will be provided on-site at Levee Park for collection.
