If you have an event you would like included in the Community Calendar section, please email [email protected] news. Events need to be submitted Friday before the first paper it would be in. We do our best to include at least two weeks of events.

Wednesday August 18 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.

Hastings Rotary Pavilion – Hastings River Front Storytime in the Park Listen to big book stories read aloud, play games and sing songs. Each Storytime has a new theme. A partnership with Pleasant Hill Library. Recommended for ages 10 and under, youth must be accompanied by an adult.

Thursday August 19 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

BINGO at the Eagles Club – Every Thursday night!

Hastings Rotary Pavilion – Hastings River Front Music in the Park – Charanga Tropical (Latin Band) A music event brought to you for free by the Ruth and George Doffing Charitable Fund. Music in the park is an all-ages show.

Friday August 20 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Hastings Rotary Pavilion – Hastings River Front Black Dirt Theater & Hastings High School Drama Club are proud to collaborate with Hastings Community Education to present: “A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD” Admission to “Frog and Toad” is a freewill donation – while not required, your donation is greatly appreciated! :)| This whimsical musical one-act follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make believe… all charm, “A Year with Frog and Toad” tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.

Meet and Greet and introduction to backyard chickens class.

Hawk Meadow Winery – 12250 120th St. S.

Join us for a Meet & Greet on August 22nd at Hawk Meadow Winery in Hastings, MN. Arrive at 3 PM to meet your local chicken enthusiasts and neighbors. Potluck and class from 4-6. We have guest instructors from the University of Minnesota who will be holding a Basic Backyard Chicken Keeping Class. Wayne M. & Abby S. from the U of M will attend to both host this informational class and answer any questions you may have as a new or aspiring chicken owner.

Children are allowed, under the expectation that they are respectful of our wonderful host and their property.

International Overdose Awareness Confluence Parking Ramp upper level Join members of the Hastings community, United Way of Hastings, The Confluence, and others for a brief presentation to bring awareness, education and understanding of how drug overdoses affect communities all around the world, including Hastings. After the presentation, the cupolas of the Confluence will light purple as a beacon of remembrance and awareness.
