20-year-old Kyle Bauer, a 2021 graduate from Hastings High School and former Raider Hockey player joined the National American Hockey League (NAHL) after graduation. The NAHL is the only USA Hockey-Sanctioned Tier II Junior hockey league and is part of the USA Hockey National Junior Development Model which works closely with NCAA College Hockey, the NHL, the USHL and USA Hockey’s National Development Program. Bauer started with the Rochester Grizzlies, a Tier III Junior hockey league team and then moved to the Anchorage Wolverines in Tier II and now to the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire for the 2023-24 season.

Bauer played one season for the Wolverines where he tallied nine goals and 17 assists for 26 total points during 53 games. In his one season with the NAHL, Bauer quickly became a key part of Anchorage’s forward group.

“Over the last few years Kyle has made big strides in his game, from winning rookie of the year in the NA3HL to making our club,” said head coach Nick Walters. “Eau Claire is getting a player who is crafty in the offensive zone with his playmaking abilities, but also someone who is sneaky on the back check and creates turnovers.”

At 5’ 11” and 170 pounds, the former Raider played in the NA3HL for the Grizzlies where he helped them to the Fraser Cup Championship. That year he was also named the 21-22 NA3HL Rookie of the Year and he was named to the All-NA3HL First Team for his team leading scoring that year with 55 points. (24 goals, 31 assists in 42 games.) He also played four games in the NAHL during the championship run that year as part of the Austin Bruins roster.

Director of Hockey Operations Keith Morris echoed Walters’s praise for Bauer. “Kyle came to us from Rochester in NA3HL and he is proof that the NAHL ladder of development is strong. He is an outstanding offensive player and a very strong student. Eau Claire is getting a fantastic student athlete.”

“I picked UW-Eau Claire because of the consistent success and support of their program paired with their strong academic programs,” said Bauer. “It is a university that I feel proud to represent on and off the ice,” said Bauer.
