Thursday, April 13th, at 5:42 p.m. Hastings police officers responded to a report of a bomb threat at the Hastings Fleet Farm. The building was evacuated because of the threat and then searched by the St. Paul Bomb Squad and Metro Transit K-9 unit. The search found nothing suspicious.

Details of the evening from both the Hastings Police Department and Fleet Farm state a note was found on a bathroom door by an employee and a member of the store’s management team called the Hastings Police Department around 5:51 p.m., indicating there was a bomb that was set to detonate at 6:29 p.m. The building was evacuated at 5:55 p.m. and the St. Paul Bomb Squad was contacted along with the Metro Transit K-9 unit. The K-9 and Bomb Squad began their search of the building at 6:52 and the building was cleared at 7:02 p.m. The search revealed nothing suspicious.

Because of the time it took to clear the building and to get everything reset for the employees, the store did not reopen for the evening. Since the incident, both Fleet Farm and the City of Hastings have confirmed the events of the evening on social media and through press releases. The case remains open and Hastings PD is continuing to investigate the incident.
