Staff report
June 19, Hastings officers were called to the boat launch at Jaycee Park for a vehicle that had gone in the water. When officers arrived, the driver of the vehicle stated they were retrieving their boat from the water when they accidentally left the car in reverse. The car backed into the river with the boat attached to the trailer and became completely submerged.
The Dakota County Sheriff's Office Dive Team and a tow truck were called to assist with the recovery of the vehicle.
In their message to boaters, DCSO reminds folks to remain aware of their surroundings. Always wear a life jacket, stay sober, be weather aware and double check your actions before proceeding.
