A St. Cloud man driving without a license led Hastings Police Department officers and other law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase on Thursday, June 5.
Kane Logan Jackson-Minser, 24, was charged with a felony count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and taken into custody.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Dakota County Court, a Hastings officer saw a vehicle being driven without a front license plate. The officer ran the rear plate, and it came back registered to a person who doesn’t have a driver’s license.
The vehicle turned into a hotel parking lot in Hastings, and the officer attempted to initiate a stop, but the vehicle accelerated out of the parking lot, then turning onto County Road 47 and left Hastings on 160th Street at speeds estimated near 100 mph.
The Minnesota State Patrol Airplane assisted in the following the vehicle. Stop stocks were deployed, taking out three of the vehicle’s tires. The vehicle continued driving through a field behind a home on Goodwin Avenue. It stopped in the field and two occupants fled on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and announced that a K-9 unit was on the scene. Both people in the car were then taken into custody without incident.
Jackson-Minser admitted to driving the vehicle and said he fled because he didn’t have a license, and the passenger had an active arrest warrant.
